We own a section of land in Lakin Kansas. We own the mineral rights for the whole section and have a lease with OXY. Aprprox. 1/4 section has been sold to Colorado Interstate for a pumping station. We have three wells on our section that Oxy pays us royalty’s on. A well was drilled on the pumping station property with out our permission. This well produced gas for about 10 years with out paying us royalties since we were unaware of its existence. At the end of production it was converted to an injection well. It is in a lower strata where oil is known to be. could this well be being used for enhanced production directing the oil to a section near by. There is a near by section that has produced significant oil. OXY claims ignorance and Colorado Interstate refuses to communicate. An indedendent producer was empoyed (Santa Fe Production) and has since gone bankrupt although its drilling rights have transfered several Times. I have communicated with The Kansas Corporate Commision. They have been helpful, confirming the gas production records but have not been able to get to the bottom of things. I would appreciate any help you could provide.
Sincerely, Joe Andrews

Important – important – important work. Thank you for that.
Recently I have had that unpleasant visit from a gas well lease door to door salesman. Our neighbor has decided to put a well in their backyard 100 ft. from our property. This street, we have lived on for 40+ yrs., bought the model home on and is dedicated / named after a patrolman who died in the line of duty on Christmas Eve. This inappropriate salesman did tell us that the well is going up wether we sign our mineral rights over or not. Now this prompted me into action. Why are these salesman allowed on our property? What are the regulations to their permits to solicitation? Why is our residential property being pushed in to industrial use? Why are the suburbs turning into the country? Why within the last two yrs. has our area been saturated with these gas wells? These questions set me on a door to door neighborly street consult. I did discover that no one on this street has enough information to make an informative decission let alone eccept money for selling out the other landowners connected to this lovely street now full of distrust and unrest among us where there was none. We believe seniors were preyed upon, adults were lied to and connected neighbors were ignored to make this proposed gas well a plan on our street. This is such a problem around Ohio that MIT came here and created a web based tool to keep neighborhoods informed. Since then hundreds of citizens have united to help one another through a project called NEOGAP. Northeast Ohio Gas Accountability Group.
