Whilst I completely support new drives and initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of the human race, I do sometimes cock an eyebrow at the reasoning behind some of thrusts that technology takes.
I am slightly at a loss to understand, for instance, what advantage may be gained by humankind if a robot has the ability to move an eyebrow, or otherwise mimic human characteristic, but that might just be a hole in the MIt newsletter’s delivery. I am also not really all that sure why a human form is that much of an advantage.
After all, humans, so I understand, evolved to the erect position in order to adapt to climatic changes

So good on you for making this giant stride, but please , please please, get the PR right so that we can all understand why you are doing it!
Nexi is interesting. I noticed from the animation that happy and surprised don’t read on her face. I also wish nexi was more cartoony looking or muppet like, and less scary.

Thats awesome!!! If her mouth, and upper cheek muscles moved, the expressions would be much more realistic and you could add so much more to the facial expressions. You could program her to tighten her upper cheek muscles when she is trying to suppress a laugh or to smile. That would be very interesting. I also noticed for the video that she struggled to pronounce longer words, such as the word dexterous. I don’t exactly know how to fix that, but other wise, she is an amazing piece of technology and MIT should be proud of her.

Wow, thats really impressive. But what is Nexi made for? Just to move? Just to show people how far in technology we are? Or is it/she just made to make/take jobs? In other words, what is its/her purpose? I have to admit, it/she is a pretty cool… being. I wonder what is going to happen when Nexi is taken and upgraded/updated.
Oh My Gosh! That’s 100% awesome! It’ll be so cool if someday they sell these things programmed to do anything in your life! I noticed it didn’t talk as fast a normal human, but that can be ignored unless you’re having a long conversation with it. This just shows how advanced technology is today. What’s next? Electric Cars replacing gasoline ones? XP

Nexi is an awesome name
I think that Nexi is a great invention. Nexi can be used for many different things as well as be a friend to many different people. However Nexi is used I hope they enjoy her to the fullest.
Wow, I want a whole army of those… I can imagine them being tour guides in museums and clerks at government offices and even hospital orderlies. Awesome !
