Recently I have had that unpleasant visit from a gas well lease door to door salesman. Our neighbor has decided to put a well in their backyard 100 ft. from our property. This street, we have lived on for 40+ yrs., bought the model home on and is dedicated / named after a patrolman who died in the line of duty on Christmas Eve. This inappropriate salesman did tell us that the well is going up wether we sign our mineral rights over or not. Now this prompted me into action. Why are these salesman allowed on our property? What are the regulations to their permits to solicitation? Why is our residential property being pushed in to industrial use? Why are the suburbs turning into the country? Why within the last two yrs. has our area been saturated with these gas wells? These questions set me on a door to door neighborly street consult. I did discover that no one on this street has enough information to make an informative decission let alone eccept money for selling out the other landowners connected to this lovely street now full of distrust and unrest among us where there was none. We believe seniors were preyed upon, adults were lied to and connected neighbors were ignored to make this proposed gas well a plan on our street. This is such a problem around Ohio that MIT came here and created a web based tool to keep neighborhoods informed. Since then hundreds of citizens have united to help one another through a project called NEOGAP. Northeast Ohio Gas Accountability Group.
concerned here in Mayfield Hts. Ohio

I don't really get it. It looks like me the robots went inside and found people who were capable of getting out on their own. They served to show them the way out and not much else. It doesn't seem like enough to justify all that technology.

Agree with Martin. The killer app here is the reliable determination of position and angle. As such, this enables far more accurate motion capture.

And if Nintendo aren't listening, they should be. This enables a far more accurate Wii Remote and Sensor Bar. (The Wii Remote determines its angle and distance to the TV by using an infrared camera to detect a couple of infrared LEDs in the Sensor Bar. With bokodes, they could simply look at a bokode embedded in the Sensor Bar and figure it out from there.)

Is it possible to get a list of the projects that were showcased and the contact information about the presenters? Several of these ideas might be a good fit as a pilot for our community and I'd like to follow-up and explore possibilities.

Hm, the main benefit to this appears to be its small size and 3-D spatial data. If you don't need either of those things, this doesn't appear to provide any advantage over regular visible codes. And it also requires a lens in front of it to work, and either a backlight or a rear reflector. So a lot of the possible uses people have cited above (magazines, E-mail, other routine object identification) are either impossible, impractical, or offer no advantage over a plain old barcode.
